CAYGILL HEADS BACK TO HOCKENHEIM FOR AUDI SPORT TT CUP FINALE

• Caygill looking to sign-off two event TT Cup return with silverware • Milltek Sport driver relishing first outing in Germany for 12 months • Yorkshireman ready to build on terrific P5 showing at Red Bull Ring

Milltek Sport backed Audi Sport TT Cup racer Josh Caygill has his sights squarely set on battling for podium silverware at Hockenheim in Germany this coming weekend, 14th/15th October, when the Audi Sport TT Cup season reaches its conclusion. Just over a week since the Yorkshire driver’s maiden Blancpain Endurance Cup campaign came to an end at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain, 28-year-old Caygill is now looking forward to his second and final outing of the year in the one-make TT Cup. After striking a deal a few weeks ago with performance exhaust specialist Milltek Sport to make a return to the championship for the final two events of the 2017 season, Netherton racer Caygill starred at the Red Bull Ring in Austria on his first outing in the series for almost a full year. Posting a strong top six finish in the opening encounter, the Briton went on to deliver an absolutely superb performance in the second of the weekend’s two contests with some of the best driving and, certainly, best overtaking of his car racing career. Over the course of the last couple of laps of the race Caygill was inspired and with two superb passes, around the outside of Yannick Brandt and Fabian Vettel respectively, he secured an excellent fifth place result. Adapting back to a front-wheel drive car very impressively, despite little in the way of practice before the Red Bull Ring races, Caygill is taking a great deal of confidence into the Hockenheim finale and if qualifying goes to plan he’s sure podium results are on the cards. “I’m really looking forward to being back at Hockenheim, I’ve gone well there in the past in the TT Cup and after how well the Red Bull Ring went for us I’m confident we should be able to put a good weekend together to be fair”, said the former British Supersport motorcycle racer. “It’d be fantastic to get back onto the podium, and I really do think we’ve got a good chance of making that happen – it’d be a great way to thank the guys at Milltek Sport for their support. I’ve enjoyed coming back to sprint racing for the last two TT Cup events, the action is as close and full on as ever and a lot of fun. I’m definitely going to Hockenheim aiming for some big results.” During Caygill’s last appearance at Hockenheim during the corresponding race meeting in 2016, top five pace was unrewarded in two troublesome races. In last year’s season-opening event at the German track, though, he was fifth and sixth in the two encounters during a very consistent outing. Free practice and qualifying for the Audi Sport TT Cup will take place on Friday, 13th October, with race one of the Hockenheim weekend following on Saturday, 14th October, at 08.10 (UK time) while race two will begin at 11.45 (UK time) on Sunday, 15th October.
